SHILLONG, April 8: The High Court of Meghalaya has permitted Amicus Curiae, S. Chakrawarty and his team to visit ‘Bidhan Bhavan’ or ‘Roy Villa’, currently functioning as the State Circuit House, so as to enable them to take photographs of the properties.
In response to an affidavit filed by the state government, Chakrawarty submitted an affidavit highlighting the historical significance of the property where Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy had resided. He mentioned the contributions of Dr. Roy and the historical significance of the property which is sought to be declared as heritage properties.
Khalid Khan, AAG, sought time to examine the affidavit, which was granted.
On Chakrawarty’s request, the Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh permitted him and his team to visit the property, take photographs of the properties and place the same before the Court by way of an affidavit during the next hearing scheduled on April 22.
