WASHINGTON, April 9: Iran-linked hackers have warned that the temporary US-Iran-Israel ceasefire will not stop their cyberattacks, particularly against Israel, with operations against the US postponed but not abandoned.
The hacking group Handala, operating independently of Tehran, has claimed responsibility for disrupting US companies like Stryker and hacking FBI Director Kash Patel’s email. Authorities warn that hackers have infiltrated critical infrastructure, including ports, power plants, and water systems, prompting alerts from the FBI, NSA, and CISA for organizations to strengthen defenses.
Cybersecurity experts predict attacks may increase post-ceasefire as hackers shift focus from regional targets to US entities involved in the conflict, including tech firms and defense contractors.
High-profile attacks are expected, designed to attract public attention and signal ongoing vulnerability despite the military truce. The warnings underscore the persistence of digital warfare alongside military hostilities. (AP)
