SHILLONG, April 9: A 32-year-old homeless man, identified as Bansuklang Kharsyntiew, was apprehended on Thursday while allegedly attempting to break into a vehicle parked near the Passport Office in Lachaumiere.
According to police, Kharsyntiew was caught trying to enter a car (ML 05 Y 6773) and was immediately detained.
While the vehicle owner declined to file a formal complaint, authorities registered a suo motu case at the Sadar Police Station to initiate legal proceedings. The case has been registered under Sections 305(b)/62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
