SHILLONG, April 11: Shree Cement has approved the construction of a new integrated cement plant in Meghalaya as part of its ongoing capacity expansion strategy.
The company’s board recently cleared the development of the facility at Daistong village in East Jaintia Hills district. The plant will have a clinker capacity of 0.95 million tonnes per annum (Mta) and a cement capacity of 0.99 Mta.
The project is expected to be completed by March 2028 and will be financed through a combination of internal accruals and debt. The company currently has no existing production capacity at the proposed site. The new unit aims to strengthen Shree Cement’s presence in Northeast, a region with rising demand.
By establishing production closer to these markets, the company intends to improve logistics efficiency and reduce distribution costs.
