Marvel Studios unveiled the first full-length trailer for Avengers: Doomsday at CinemaCon, earning a strong response from theatre owners.
The biggest highlights were the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and the first unmasked appearance of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
Downey Jr., formerly Iron Man in the MCU, appeared on stage to “Sympathy for the Devil” and said he never expected to return as a new character.
The trailer shows him as a powerful, metal-masked Doom preparing a multiverse invasion.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed the film continues after Avengers: Endgame and will bring together the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Thunderbolts.
Key moments include crossovers like Gambit vs Shang-Chi, Mystique shapeshifting into Yelena, and Doom catching Thor’s hammer.
The biggest reaction came when Steve Rogers reappeared alongside Thor.
Director Joe Russo described Doom as a highly intelligent, strategic villain. The film releases on December 18.
Paramount’s Ellison pledges support for
theatrical films
David Ellison told CinemaCon in Las Vegas that Paramount Skydance will commit to 30 theatrical releases annually between Paramount and Warner Bros. and enforce a 45-day exclusive theatrical window starting immediately.
He declared “Long live the movies” and emphasized strong support for cinema exhibitors amid concerns over a pending $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery.
Ellison promoted future franchises and original films, backed by appearances from major stars and directors, and pledged continued investment in theatrical filmmaking. Paramount also plans 15 theatrical releases in 2026.
The proposed merger has sparked industry debate and political scrutiny over competition, job cuts, and market consolidation, though supporters argue it will strengthen streaming and content libraries.
Toy Story 5 preview reveals Woody, Buzz conflict
Footage from Toy Story 5 was unveiled at CinemaCon, with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen presenting new scenes from the film.
The story follows Bonnie, who becomes increasingly attached to a frog-shaped tablet called Lilypad (voiced by Greta Lee), sidelining her traditional toys.
Feeling replaced by technology, the toys send a call for help to Woody, who returns looking older and changed.
However, his arrival sparks tension with Buzz Lightyear, leading to a dispute over who should lead the mission to save the toys.
The film explores themes of obsolescence and changing childhood attention, with a cast including Joan Cusack, Tony Hale, and Conan O’Brien.
Directed by Andrew Stanton, Toy Story 5 is set for release on June 19 in the US. (Agences)
