SHILLONG, April 12: Sutnga-Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla on Tuesday announced that a detailed survey will be conducted across 10 to 15 villages to identify sustainable water sources and resolve supply issues in her constituency.
Addressing the challenges, Shylla noted that while coal mining has contributed to some scarcity, the primary difficulty lies in locating and channeling reliable water sources to the affected areas.
The survey, scheduled for the coming weeks, aims to streamline supply for villages currently dependent on varied sources.
Following the assessment, the MLA plans to submit formal proposals to the government to secure funding for infrastructure and ensure access to safe drinking water.
Shylla maintained that while the water situation is not yet critical in her constituency, proactive intervention is necessary to secure dependable sources and connect villages to a stable distribution system.
