SHILLONG, April 22: The Awaken India Movement (AIM), Meghalaya State Chapter, along with concerned citizens of the State, will hold a public campaign from 10 am on April 28 near the Meghalaya Secretariat and the High Court of Meghalaya to highlight the serious challenges faced by genuine citizens of the state who are being denied recognition due to Aadhaar-related issues.
A large number of people, especially from economically weaker sections, are reportedly unable to access essential services and government benefits due to non availability of Aadhaar, AIM said in a statement.
“These include difficulties in availing LPG supply from gas agencies, ration from fair price shops, healthcare services in hospitals, education in schools and colleges, and various schemes and services provided by government departments,” it said.
The campaign aims to raise public awareness and urge the concerned authorities to ensure that no genuine citizen is deprived of basic rights and essential services due to Aadhaar-related barriers.
