Shillong, April 29: Janepih YSCA were formidable opponents once again as they stormed to a 6-0 victory against Attong Matgrik FC in Group G of the 5th Meghalaya State League in Williamnagar on Wednesday.
There was a hat-trick each for Rishembhalang Wanniang (38’, 74’, 90’) and Akhebor Langrin (10’, 41’, 45’) as unbeaten Janepih registered their fourth win in five games (the other result was a draw).
This was their biggest win of the tournament so far and Janepih remain the only club not to have conceded a single goal in MSL 5. For bottom-placed Attong Matgrik, this was their fourth defeat in five games. There has been a necessary change to the fixtures, with the Group A matches on Friday and Saturday brought forwards toThursday at the SSA Stadium in Shillong. At 1pm Mawshun SCC will face Khimusniang SC and at 5pm Nongkseh SSCC will take on Umkaber SC. In Williamnagar, Balmanduri FC will go up against Maram FC at 3pm as per the original schedule.
With yet another commanding performance, Janepih YSCA have firmly established themselves as one of the strongest title contenders in this edition of the Meghalaya State League, combining ruthless attacking football with an equally impressive defensive discipline that has left opponents struggling for answers. Their six-goal demolition of Attong Matgrik FC not only underlined their dominance in Group G but also sent a strong warning to the rest of the competition that they are a side capable of going all the way. The twin hat-tricks from Rishembhalang Wanniang and Akhebor Langrin reflected the team’s sharpness in front of goal, while their remarkable record of not conceding a single goal so far speaks volumes of their balance across all departments. As the league progresses and the battle for qualification intensifies, Janepih will look to carry this momentum forward and maintain their unbeaten run, while Attong Matgrik must quickly regroup and find answers if they are to keep their campaign alive. Meanwhile, attention will now shift to Thursday’s fixtures, where crucial points will once again be up for grabs as teams continue their fight for supremacy in Meghalaya’s premier football competition.
