SHILLONG, April 29: The North Eastern Security Service (NESS) Pvt Ltd has denied reports that it has been blacklisted by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), asserting it has received no official communication regarding such action.
In a statement, the firm’s managing director countered recent media reports, stating: “We have not received any communication till date from the KHADC blacklisting our company.”
Addressing claims regarding its operations, the company stated that its contract at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Laitkor, was not terminated by the council but concluded naturally upon the completion of its term on March 31. It added that a fresh tender process is currently under way.
The firm also rejected allegations of submitting fake documents or engaging in fraudulent practices to secure contracts, specifically concerning the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Sohra.
“Our company has not submitted any fake document nor used any fraudulent means to procure the contract,” the statement said, adding that the firm remains in compliance with KHADC regulations governing trading by non-tribal entities.
While affirming its commitment to integrity, the company acknowledged that the matter of its KHADC trading licence is currently pending before the High Court of Meghalaya.
The clarification follows concerns raised by the Khasi Hills National Awakening Movement (KHNAM). KHNAM Working President Thomas Passah had earlier claimed that NESS was blacklisted for violating the Trading by Non-Tribal Regulation, 1954, and urged the council to take action.
Passah cited previous statements by KHADC Chief Executive Member Winston Tony Lyngdoh, who reportedly said the firm was barred after being found in breach of rules governing non-tribal trading activities.
The KHADC CEM had earlier announced the decision to blacklist NESS, alleging the firm used a trading licence issued for KV Laitkor to obtain a separate tender at NIT Sohra, violating norms that require licences to be location- and project-specific.
