SHILLONG, April 30: The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department has announced a 12-hour emergency shutdown of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme on May 1, 2026.
The shutdown, scheduled from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, is necessary for urgent maintenance of the 33KV/6.6 KV power line connected to the pumping system.
Water supply will be suspended across Shillong city and its adjoining areas during this period. Authorities stated that supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed.
