Shillong, May 8: SCA Academy clinched a thrilling one-wicket victory over BK Bajoria in the final of the Inter-School U-15 Cricket Tournament organised by the Shillong Cricket Association here on Thursday.
After winning the toss, BK Bajoria opted to bat first but struggled against a disciplined bowling attack and were restricted to 83/8 in 20 overs.
Aryan Sunar top-scored with a patient 40 off 50 deliveries. For SCA Academy, Devansh Deb delivered an impressive spell, claiming three wickets for 15 runs in four overs, while Ayush Kumar Roy picked up two wickets, conceding 19 runs in his four-over spell.
In reply, SCA Academy endured a tense chase before reaching 84/9 in 18.5 overs to seal the title. Devansh Deb contributed 14 runs off 35 balls in a low-scoring contest. Samarth Pathak was the standout bowler for BK Bajoria with figures of 3/17 in 3.5 overs.
Devansh Deb was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round performance, scoring 14 runs and scalping three wickets.
Meanwhile, in the final of the Inter-School U-18 Cricket Tournament organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, St Nanak Secondary School defeated KV Happy Valley by 17 runs to lift the title.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, St Nanak posted 124/4 in 17 overs. Piyush Kumar Ray anchored the innings with a well-made 51 off 46 balls, while Ganesh Kumar chipped in with 36 runs from 36 deliveries. Imran Ali was the lone wicket-taker for KV Happy Valley, conceding 20 runs in his three overs.
Chasing 125 for victory, KV Happy Valley managed 107/9 in their allotted 17 overs despite fighting knocks from Adit Pradhan, who scored 40 off 36 balls, and Imran Ali, who added a quick 29 from 18 deliveries.
Ganesh Kumar starred with the ball for St Nanak, returning figures of 3/24 in four overs to help his side defend the total successfully. He was later named Player of the Match for his all-round display of 36 runs and three wickets.
