SHILLONG, May 13: Several CBSE-affiliated schools in Shillong once again registered commendable performances in the Class XII examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were declared on Wednesday.
Among the schools that recorded impressive results were Army Public School Shillong, BK Bajoria School and Assam Rifles Public School, where students excelled across the Science, Commerce and Humanities streams.
Continuing its tradition of academic excellence, Army Public School Shillong delivered an outstanding performance in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination 2026. Out of 150 students who appeared for the examination, 17 students secured 90 per cent and above in aggregate marks.
In the Commerce stream, Bhavya Harlalka emerged as the topper with 96.4 per cent, followed by Siddhanth Bikram Singhania with 95.2 per cent and Hriday Maskara with 94 per cent. Siddhanth also secured a perfect score of 100 in Accountancy.
In Humanities, Daniel Remdor Sonowal Warjri topped the stream with 95.8 per cent, while Rangima Adhyapak secured the second position with 94.6 per cent and Piyali Deb stood third with 93.6 per cent.
In Science, Thanmung Dominic Khamasu Zingkhai secured the top position with 95 per cent, followed by Bakhambok Anthony Thabah with 92 per cent and Prantika Deb with 90.2 per cent.
Meanwhile, the School Administration and Managing Committee (SAMC), along with the principal, vice principal and staff members, congratulated the students on their excellent performance.
BK Bajoria School also achieved remarkable results in the Senior School Certificate Examination, with students bringing laurels to the institution through outstanding academic performances.
Dhruv Agarwal from the Commerce stream emerged as the school topper by securing 95.6 per cent. He scored 98 per cent in Accountancy, 97 per cent in Economics and 95 per cent in Business Studies.
Ronan Warbah secured the second position with 94.2 per cent, while David Gatphoh from the Science stream stood third with 92.8 per cent, including 96 per cent in Physics.
The fourth position was jointly shared by Diya Kharbani, Lamdame Syiem and Phiba La Ailad, all of whom secured 91.4 per cent.
Special mention was made of Iarisalang Kharkhongor, who scored 98 per cent in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Raynard Zachary Mawroh, who secured 97 per cent in Informatics Practices.
Out of 199 students who appeared for the examination from BK Bajoria School, 187 secured First Division, while five students obtained Second Division.
Principal Vandana Gupta congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of teachers and parents for their continuous support and guidance.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), Laitkor also recorded commendable results in the CBSE Class XII examinations.
In the Humanities stream, all 49 students who appeared for the examination successfully passed, with 48 securing First Division and one student obtaining Second Division.
In Commerce, seven out of eight students passed the examination, and all successful candidates secured First Division.
In the Science stream, 32 out of 43 students passed, including 31 students securing First Division and one obtaining Second Division.
Among boarders, 49 students secured First Division while one obtained Second Division.
The school topper was Aribam Parash Sharma from the Humanities stream with 92.6 per cent, followed closely by Jerimius Pynkhraw Majaw from the Science stream with 92.2 per cent. Both students are boarders.
Principal Shaju Achandy expressed concern over the results in Chemistry and Physics, stating that a number of students had been placed in compartment examinations in the two subjects.
He said similar issues had also been reported by other schools in the city and informed that the school would take up the matter with the CBSE.
“We will be taking up the case with CBSE as the results in these two subjects are absolutely shocking,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kendriya Vidyalaya NEHU recorded a pass percentage of 75.86 per cent in the Class XII examinations.
Out of 29 students who appeared for the examination, 22 passed successfully, while six students will appear for compartmental examinations and one student has been placed under essential repeat.
