SHILLONG, May 14: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday said discussions with Assam to resolve the second and final phase of the Meghalaya-Assam interstate boundary talks would be taken forward soon following the swearing-in of the new government in the neighbouring state.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma said the Assam government had only recently been sworn in and indicated that communication between the two sides would resume after a few days.
He said he would communicate with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and discussions on the pending border issues would move forward shortly.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid continued uncertainty over the second phase of interstate boundary talks, which has remained stalled despite repeated indications from both states to continue negotiations on the remaining six areas of difference.
