SHILLONG, June 3: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday held a series of meetings with various organisations, community groups, and stakeholders at his official residence to discuss issues ranging from infrastructure and employment to welfare and industrial growth.
Among those who called on the Chief Minister were representatives from Synod Sepngi, Mawphlang Presbytery, Holy Eucharist Church, The Lou Majaw Foundation and woodcraft artist Gilford Pde. Discussions focused on church events, cultural initiatives, the promotion of arts and crafts, and environmental activities.
Delegations from the Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union, All Meghalaya Grade IV Government Employees Association, and the Meghalaya Election Enumerators’ Service Association (MEESA) raised concerns regarding honorariums, service conditions, and infrastructure requirements. Teacher trainees from DIET also sought the government’s intervention regarding pending educational stipends.
The Chief Minister further interacted with the Meghalaya Poultry Farmers and Welfare Association, the Jaintia Hills Cement Manufacturers Association, the Hynniewtrep Border Dispute Redressal Forum, and the Hynniewtrep Youth Development Council. These discussions covered industrial growth, recruitment concerns, labour welfare, and matters affecting border villages. Additionally, the Bosco Integrated Development Society briefed the Chief Minister on ongoing community projects across the state.
Sangma assured the delegations that the government would examine the grievances and suggestions raised. He reiterated the administration’s focus on inclusive development and maintained that regular engagement with citizens and organisations remains a priority to address state-wide challenges.
