GUWAHATI, June 10 : S. K. Bhalla, Secretary, North Eastern Council (NEC) inaugurated the newly-
established Laboratories of Agricultural Sciences at The Assam Royal Global University
(RGU) today in the presence of Prof Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice Chancellor of RGU, Dr
Bidyut Kumar Sarmah, Director, NECAB, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, apart from
deans, faculty members and other high officials.
Addressing the gathering following the inauguration, the NEC Secretory said, “Only when
the Central Government, the State Governments, and the private sector work together can the
country truly progress.
I have observed that Royal Global University is dedicatedly
committed to nurturing talent. The inauguration of the Agricultural Sciences Laboratories
will facilitate hands-on training and research, enabling students to engage effectively at the
grassroots level.”
Sharing his impressions, he further stated, “My interaction with the faculty members here
has been truly encouraging, as it gave me an opportunity to learn about the
impressive number of patents they have secured. I am delighted to see such
talented academicians engaged in impactful research across diverse fields.
“Their dedication and innovation reflect a strong commitment to advancing knowledge and
addressing societal needs. I am confident that the excellent work being carried out
here will contribute significantly to strengthening and enriching society as a whole.
“I congratulate RGU for its commendable efforts and am certain that it will continue to
play a vital role in the development of the North Eastern Region in the years to
come.”
Prof Alak Kumar Buragohain stated that the state-of-the-art laboratories have been developed to
cater to the growing needs of students pursuing Agricultural and Allied Sciences by
providing advanced training facilities, hands-on learning opportunities, and a strong platform
for research and skill development.
Equipped with modern instruments and essential facilities, the laboratories will support both academic and research activities in diverse areasof agricultural sciences.
The laboratories have been established in accordance with the guidelines of the Indian
Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and will support the four-year undergraduate
degree programme in Agricultural Sciences offered by the University.
The Department of Agricultural Sciences has been functioning at RGU since the last academic session and has
been steadily expanding its academic and research capabilities.
