Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has criticised theatres for giving a larger number of screenings to the Hollywood blockbuster Obsession while Indian films struggle for adequate show timings. In a post on Instagram, Kashyap said that although he understands the audience demand for Obsession, theatres should prioritise domestic cinema to help the industry grow. He pointed out that his film Bandar faced a similar problem last week and claimed that Main Vaapas Aaunga, Sing Geetham and Governor are currently receiving limited slots despite their releases. Kashyap argued that Indian films deserve better showcasing, while Obsession continues to dominate theatres with six to seven shows in many locations. The Hollywood film has grossed over USD 200 million worldwide and more than Rs 60 crore in India. (PTI)
