TURA, June 22: The Rajabala Regional Unit of the A·chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF) has demanded the immediate dissolution of the recently constituted Adhoc Managing Committee of Rajabala Higher Secondary School, alleging that it was formed illegally.
In a complaint filed with the District School Education Officer (DSEO) of West Garo Hills, the organisation claimed the committee was established without a formal meeting following the dissolution of the previous body by the High Court of Meghalaya on June 12.
The ASPF pointed out several irregularities in the committee’s composition. It noted that the president is a serving Block Resource Person under Samagra Siksha Abhiyan, while the Secretary is a Principal from another school.
The group argued that government servants cannot hold office in the managing committee of a deficit school without prior permission.
Furthermore, the organisation alleged that the committee includes two individuals who are not parents or guardians of any student at the school, along with private individuals who have no institutional connection to the school.
Terming these appointments a violation of set guidelines and conduct rules, the ASPF has called for the committee’s dissolution and departmental action against the government employees involved. The organisation has set a seven-day deadline for action, warning that it will otherwise approach the High Court or the Meghalaya Lokayukta.
