Acclaimed Khasi feature film Ha Lyngkha Bneng (The Elysian Field), directed by Pradip Kurbah, has added another feather to its cap after being named the first runner-up at the prestigious FIPRESCI-India Grand Prix 2025.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, FIPRESCI-India, the Indian chapter of the International Federation of Film Critics, announced the results of its Grand Prix 2025, which recognises the top Indian films of the year based on secret voting by its members.
The top honour went to Marathi film Sabar Bonda, directed by Rohan Parashuram Kanawade, while Ha Lyngkha Bneng secured the second position. Hindi film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, was placed third.
The top 10 list also featured films in Marathi, Hindi, Nepali, Bengali and Malayalam languages, highlighting the diversity of contemporary Indian cinema.
Reacting to the recognition, team Ha Lyngkha Bneng expressed gratitude to FIPRESCI-India and all those associated with the film.
“We are deeply humbled to share that Ha Lyngkha Bneng (The Elysian Field) has been placed as the 1st Runner-up in the FIPRESCI-India Grand Prix 2025 among the Top 10 films from the country,” the team said in a Facebook post.
The team dedicated the honour to the entire cast and crew, acknowledging their hard work, patience and commitment throughout the filmmaking journey.
The filmmakers thanked producers Hello Meghalaya, collaborators, supporters and well-wishers for their unwavering support.
The award will be formally presented at a ceremony to be announced by FIPRESCI-India at a later date.
