Superstar Aamir Khan is set to attend a special screening of his iconic film Lagaan in Melbourne on July 9 to mark its 25 years, launching the 17th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) a month ahead of the festival’s main programme. This year, the festival will kick off its celebrations with a special curtain-raiser event a month ahead of the festival, commemorating 25 years of the Academy Award-nominated classic Lagaan. Ayushmann Khurrana to star in YRF, Posham Pa’s next film Mupapa
Actor Ayushmann Khurrana is set to star in Mupapa, a new feature film that marks the first collaboration between Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Posham Pa Pictures, the makers announced on Wednesday. Billed as a genre-bending theatrical entertainer, the movie is scheduled to release in cinemas on February 19, 2027, a press release said. It will be directed by Sameer Saxena, known for working on series such as Tripling, Yeh Meri Family and Permanent Roommates. He also directed the 2022 movie Jaadugar, starring Jitendra Kumar. According to the makers, Mupapa will be produced by Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, whose last film Saiyaara became the highest grossing romantic film in the history of Indian cinema. (PTI)
Monica Barbaro joins Margot Robbie in Ocean’s Eleven prequel
Hollywood actor Monica Barbaro became the latest addition to the cast of Warner Bros’ Ocean’s Eleven prequel and is set to feature alongside Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie. The film is directed by Cooper and is in production. Also featuring Wagner Moura, it is set to release on June 25, 2027, according to the entertainment news outlet Deadline. Barbaro had her breakthrough in 2022 with Top Gun: Maverick, where she essayed the role of Natasha Trace. She is also known for featuring as Joan Baez in Bob Dylan’s biopic A Complete Unknown. It released in 2024. Ocean’s Eleven released in 2001 and was directed by Steven Soderbergh. It revolved around charismatic ex-con Danny Ocean, who violates his parole to orchestrate a heist of three Las Vegas casinos owned by his ex-wife’s wealthy new lover, Terry Bened. (PTI)

English actor Sharon D Clarke is all set to star in the title role of Othello for the Royal Shakespeare Company, with Monique Touko directing a new adaptation that shifts Shakespeare’s tragedy to a climate-threatened future and reimagines its central military leader as a Black lesbian. As shared by the official social media handle of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Clarke will be seen as a ‘respected female military general meets her soulmate. Obsession makes digital debut
Curry Barker’s breakout supernatural thriller Obsession is officially on the OTT. The film, which turned out to become one of the year’s biggest horror surprises, is now available to buy and rent on digital platforms, including Prime Video and Apple TV, as per Variety. For now, it has been priced at USD 24.99 to purchase and USD 19.99 to rent. The film’s digital release will also come with bonus content such as a behind-the-scenes featurette and director commentary from Barker. (ANI)
