USA Medicos visits NEIGRIHMS

SHILLONG: A team of seven medical students from Ohio State University College of Medicine, USA visited NEIGRIHMS on an educational training programme under the Global Health Project to have a firsthand insight in to the Indian health care system.

The programme was coordinated by the office of the Medical Superintendent, NEIGRIHMS to provide an in-depth clinical exposure to understand the patients treated in the Department of General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pediatrics and the level/span of services provided at the Tertiary Health Care Level in India, NEIGRIHMS. They also had a glimpse of the sophisticated Blood Bank unit of the Institute which stores and supplies blood and blood Products.

Through the Department of Community Medicine an overall knowledge on the Health Care Delivery System of India in the form of Tertiary Health Care, Secondary Health Care and Primary Health Care was given.

A field trip was organized to Sohiong CHC, Pomlum PHC and Weilyngkut Sub-Centre in East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya to have a practical understanding of the system.

The students were very much impressed by the services provided by the hospital. They appreciated the cleanliness, serenity, dedication and professionalism of the hospital.
