Raveena Tandon slams trolling of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Actor Raveena Tandon has condemned the online trolling of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan following her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, calling it “deeply unfortunate and incredibly unfair.” Aishwarya’s red carpet look in a sculpted blue Amit Aggarwal gown went viral, but she was later subjected to criticism and memes on social media. Speaking to PTI, Raveena said the intense scrutiny of women’s appearance reflects a “toxic trait” in digital culture, particularly focusing on ageing, weight and clothing choices. She described Aishwarya as a “global icon” who has represented India with dignity for decades, adding that reducing her achievements to camera angles or fashion experiments is unfair and disrespectful. Raveena also highlighted gender bias, saying male actors are allowed to age naturally while women face harsher judgment. She urged people to stop online trolling and respect women’s individuality. Actors Madhuri Dixit Nene and Kangana Ranaut also supported Aishwarya amid the criticism. (PTI)
