Peace rally to be held against NGT ban on mining

JOWAI: The Jaintia Marginal Coal Miners and Owners Association (JMCM&OA) has decided to organise a peace rally in protest of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) ban on coal mining and transportation of coal in Meghalaya.
“We have decided to organise a rally and the date will be fixed shortly”,  JMCM&OA chairman, HS Dkhar informed. The decision was taken in a public meeting held at Phramer on Friday. The meeting was attended by more than 5000 people approximately.
Prominent residents including, Sohra MLA, Titos Chyne, JHADC MDCs Bison Ianoi, Firstmoon Dkhar, Laski Rymbai, Hoppingstone Bareh former MLA, Singh Mulieh and Simon Siangshai also spoke on the meeting. One of the leaders of the JMCM&OA, Erwin K Sutnga, who is also a lawyer by profession briefed the public about their meeting with the Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma recently.
