Glasgow, July 26: India’s men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team kept the country’s medal hopes alive by booking a place in the final at the Commonwealth Games after an impressive performance in the heats here on Sunday.
The quartet of Dhakshan Shashikumar, Aneesh Sunil Kumar Gowda, Aryan Nehra and Srihari Nataraj clocked 7 minutes 39.48 seconds to finish third in their heat behind Australia and England.
Their effort earned India fifth place overall across the two qualifying heats, securing a spot in the eight-team final.
The Indian swimmers produced a strong finish to edge past Jersey in the closing stages, ensuring their progression to the medal round.
With momentum on their side, the quartet will now look to build on their encouraging performance as they aim for a podium finish in the final. (PTI)
