AR jawan drowned to death

 Shillong: An Assam Rifles jawan has been drowned to death in Manipur’s Loktak Lake with the paramilitary force on Tuesday having ordered a probe into the circumstances that led to the incident.

An Assam Rifles statement said here 21-year old rifleman Bablu Hussain Mazumdar, of 33 AR, was drowned in the Loktak Lake on Monday afternoon. Preliminary reports suggest he had gone for a bath but plunged deep in the rain-swollen lake and could not finally come out, the statement said. However “an inquiry has been ordered into the circumstances of his death,” it added.

A resident of Shillong, Mazumdar’s body was later fished out and sent for post-mortem at the Regional Institute of Medical Science, Imphal, the statement said.
