Take advantage of devp schemes, CM tells youth

NONGPOH: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has called upon the youth of the State to take advantage of the State government’s developmental schemes.
Inaugurating a mass mobilisation campaign for the Aquaculture Mission at Umsning on Thursday, Dr Sangma said Aquaculture Mission has been aimed at creating self-employment opportunities for the unemployment youth.
He called upon them to avail this opportunity in order to obtain additional income for their own prosperity.
He also spoke on several schemes and projects formulated by the government to carry the state forward in various fields like literacy mission, NRHM, NERGS and also said that the government was trying to uplift socio- economic life of the people through various flagship programmes.
“Meghalaya at present is said to be one of the backward state when compared to other states of the country, hence it is the duty of the government together with its people to work hard to be at par with others,” he said
Other present on the occasion included DD Lapang, Chief Adviser to the government of Meghalaya, HDR Lyngdoh, Home Minister, D. Khymdeit, MLA of Mawhati.
The programme was attended by village elders of different villages, farmers and amidst large number of people from different parts of Ri Bhoi district.
ND Sangma, Director of Fisheries, chaired the inaugural function.
