Human skeletal remains found in city

SHILLONG: In a curious case, human skeletal remains were recovered outside the catholic cemetery at Nongrimmaw Block-A, Laitumkhrah with the police taking steps to send the samples for DNA test.
Police on Monday said that on March 20 while conducting a cleaning drive, the residents of Nongrimmaw Block-A, Laitumkhrah, recovered the human skeletal remains near Catholic Cemetery in the locality and the same was sent to Civil Hospital Shillong for necessary action. When contacted, East Khasi Hills police chief M. Kharkrang said on Monday that an individual’s skull and bones were recovered from a place on
the way to the cemetery. Post-mortem of the remains was already carried out, but only after the DNA test, police would be able to reveal further developments, he said. Police have collected samples after the postmortem and they will be sent for DNA test at Guwahati.
