SHILLONG: The rape and trafficking case involving a minor girl has put the spotlight on Marvelene’s Inn owned by HDR Lyngdoh’s family, but other resorts and guest houses where the 14-year-old was abused are tightlipped on the episode.
The minor girl was raped by MLA Julius Dorphang at Lumsohphoh House in Motinagar and Orchid Lake Resort in Umiam.
The Shillong Times visited the Lumsohphoh House to know about the other side of the story but the owner and manager of the guest house were not available.
Later, several attempts were made to contact the owner of the hotel but he did not respond to the call.
On the other hand, the manager of the guest house also remained tightlipped over the whole incident.
Apart from Lumsohphoh House, the government-owned Orchid Lake Resort   is also under the scanner.
Meanwhile, police are examining the case of Marvelene’s Inn
where the minor girl was raped last month.
TUR and CSWO filed the FIR against the owners of the guest house under Section 21(1) of the POCSO Act that holds liable persons for failure to report to the commission of an offence or apprehension that an act is likely to be committed under POCSO. The NGOs had alleged that the minor was twice “received” and “harboured” at Marvelene’s Inn.
Police have registered the case and examined the manager of the guest house. But so far no arrest has been made in this connection.
