SHILLONG: After the 2018 Assembly elections, the battle ground now shifts to Williamnagar where the by-poll will be held on April 27.
There are nine candidates in the fray but political pundits believe that the constituency will witness a triangular fight between the Congress (Deborah Marak), NCP (Krinilla R Marak) and NPP (Marcuise N Marak).
NCP working president Vijay Raj said the party has been preparing for a long time. He pointed out that slain Jonathone Sangma had good chances of winning and his charisma would work for his wife.
NCP is aggressively campaigning in the constituency and recently party president Saleng Sangma campaigned there.
NPP working president WR Kharlukhi also believes the party has good chances of winning.
Attempts were made to contact Deborah but she could not be contacted.
However, it is learnt that the sitting MLA is aggressively campaigning in the constituency.
