Post-result violence startles parts of Bengal, one dies in blast

Kolkata: Fresh fighting in post-result related violence rocked parts of West Bengal in which a person died in a bomb blast.
Unidentified miscreants torched and vandalised markets and destroyed homes, especially trouble-torn Kakinara in Barrackpore and elsewhere dozen of people sustained wounds in politics-related clashes.
Unidentified miscreants torched some shops, vandalised some dozen at Line Busty Thursday night, hours after BJP candidates Arjun Singh and his son Pawan were declared winners from Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat and Bhatpara bypoll election respectively.
Arjun Singh, who visited the troubled torn market area of Naya Bazar, said the TMC goons continued to attack the common people to create terror since May 19, that happened to be the last phase of poll, to lord over the area.
Singh said that the local residents, including the Sahoo Samaj, was organising the community services by giving shelter and food to over 100 displaced persons.
Yet, the local administration remained mute spectator even as the miscreants and ruffians were comitting crimes during night time.
 To a question, he said the BJP did not believe in violence despite attacks were coming from the TMC side after debacle in polls, both assembly and parliament.
A separate report from Cooch Behar said that a TMC office at Setai was burned down Friday morning by a group of unidentified people.
The TMC leadership charged the BJP with setting fire in their office at Setai, a day after BJP candidate Nitish Pramanik was declared winner from Cooch Behar LS seat.
It was alleged that scores of people came on motor cycles while celebrating the victory, and a section of them torched the TMC office, which was denied by the BJP.
Miscreants also ransacked the house of TMC block president at Setai in Cooch Behar which has been witnessing violent clashes for past six weeks since the first phase poll held on April 11.
Clashes were also reported at Basirhat between TMC and BJP where some people sustained wounds.
Many of them were admitted to Toofanganj hospital.
A BJP supporter was thrashed after he raised slogan Jay Sree Ram at Kalna in Burdwan.
It was also reported that some TMC supporters thrashed a BJP supporter using bamboo   in Balinda village. The injured has been admitted to Kalna Mahakuma hospital. (UNI)
