SHILLONG: Alleging misuse of funds by the traditional leaders of the Dorbar Shnong of Khlieh Tyrshi, a section of the residents of KhliehTyrshi said that an audit report should be presented to the people.
The residents also demanded that the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) should conduct an independent inquiry into the financial management of the Dorbar Shnong.
The residents have also opposed the election of a Waheh Shnong or headman scheduled for October 21 while the term of the executive committee has expired on August 15 as announced by Doloi of Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing.
A resident identified as Dita Phawa told reporters that the election of a new Waheh Shnong will only be conducted after the audit report is handed in.
On announcing the date of the election, the residents alleged that the Dolloi overlooked the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District (Establishment of Elaka and Village and Election, Appointment, Powers, Functions and Jurisdiction of Dolloi/Sirdar and Waheh Shnong) Act, 2015.  The residents are also demanding the removal of present Waheh Shnong Kitbok Rymbai and to appoint an acting Waheh Shnong while the JHADC inquiry is on.
