Tension in Tura over alleged rape

Tension prevail in Tura over the alleged rape of a tribal woman in the town’s commercial area.

According to the sources at least two assaults of pedestrians and a few cases of pelting of stones were reported during the week. The traders of Tura resorted to a frightening strike in protest against the vandalism by a section of people.

Police patrol has been intensified in the town. Official sources said that the situation was under cotrol.

Police has arrested the person allegedly involved in the incedennt. He has been commended in the judicial custody.

Sources said that the victim, who is a Gram Sevok from the interior area, has been admitted to the Civil Hospital with profuse bleeding.

Forced by a heavy down-pour, she had catered a watch repairer’s shop to take refuge. The culprit bolted the door from inside and pounced on her. As the heavy rain drowned her voice no help came her way.

Students took out a huge procession along the main throughfares of the town decrying the incident.

Later, at a people meeting the students demanded deterent action against the culprit
