Household goods, computers distributed

SHILLONG: The Monitoring-cum-Implementation Committee of 22nd Laban constituency on Saturday distributed household materials at Raid Laban College Play Ground to 600 BPL families comprises all communities residing within Laban Constituency (legislative). The materials were sponsored by local MLA Sanbor Shullai under the SUWP 2009-10 under the theme “Service to people is service to God”.

Video CDs were given away to 300 meritorious students who excelled in their respective examinations in 2010 under 7th Literary Award. Twenty computers were distributed among the students who passed out various examinations with flying colours in 2010.

Text books and exercise books were also distributed to 1300 BPL students. Total worth of materials distributed amounts to Rs 50 lakh, a press release said.
