SHILLONG: In a rare gesture of honesty, two persons, both policemen, have deposited cash Rs 5000, they found in an SBI ATM, at the bank’s Polo branch here.

The duo — Ranbir Singh from Police Reserve and his companion NK Pandey, a traffic cop posted with Sadar Police Station – found the money when there was no one in the ATM near Hotel Polo Towers on Thursday.

Branch manager B Sikdar said the bank made efforts to locate the person who had left the money but could not trace him since the person had used ATM card of another bank to withdraw the money.”The two gentlemen have proved that honesty still prevails in this world,” Sikdar said.
