GUWAHATI:Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been urged by Assam government to induct more MPs from the state in the union cabinet during the upcoming reshuffle of his ministry. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday said he had sent a representation to the prime minister for inclusion of MPs from Assam in the cabinet. “I am hopeful there will be more ministers from Assam in the union cabinet this time”, Gogoi said. Assam has two MPs in the union cabinet — the prime minister himself and DONER Minister Bijoy Krishna Handique. Singh is one of the seven MPs from here in the Rajya Sabha and Handique among 14 Lok Sabha MPs. (PTI)
