KOHIMA: The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on Monday urged Nagas not to disregard the historic event that took place at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on July 9 and appealed to rebel groups to accept the global trust placed on Nagas.

A statement issued by the FNR here said what is significant is the fact that the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) members from 120 nations, under six regional bodies, had resolved to support the Naga Reconciliation process during the annual gathering of the Baptist World Alliance held in Kuala Lumpur from July 4 to 9.

The BWA chose to bring to the forefront the Naga conflict as one of the most important issues in the world. In some ways, BWA like the ‘United Nation of Baptists’ had sincerely commended all who had ‘responded to the call to reconciliation by the FNR by declaring their resolve to strengthen the Naga Reconciliation Process’.

While affirming the ‘Nagaland Baptist Church Council and its leadership’s’ support of ‘Reconciliation Process’, it called upon the Naga brothers and sisters ‘to be reconciled to one another and adopt non-violent methods in pursuit of their goals’ and urged the signatories of the ‘Covenant of Reconciliation’ to fulfil their promises.Terming this as a great challenge for the Nagas, the FNR pointed out that ”we are being made a paradigm of reconciliation by the world”.
