SHILLONG: The acting Sirdar and Myntri Headman of Ryngku Bazaar, Dwara Nongtyrnem (Sirdarship East Khasi Hills district) has demanded immediate arrest of one Dulal Marak, who reportedly claimed himself as the ‘headman’ of Ryngku Bazaar.

The demand was tabled during a meeting between the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills J Lyngdoh and Myntri Headman of Ryngku Bazaar Lamphrang Wanshnong on Monday.

Wanshnong alleged that Marak was involved in several fraud cases.

It was mentioned here that Marak recently sent a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, undersigning himself as the headman of Ryngku Bazaar, wherein he had reported a case of disruption of an administrative function of the BDO of Mawsynram by some miscreants on July 8.

But according to Wanshnong, Marak was behind the incident. “Fearing that he would not be elected as a member of the new VEC, Marak and his accomplices disrupted the meeting,” he said . Wanshnong said he took up the matter to the DC on Monday and the DC informed that Marak was arrested before in connection with a fraud case and the case was still going on in the district council court.
