JOWAI: The Jowai-Shillong Tourist Cab Association (JSTCA) has moved the SPs of Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills districts against illegal parking of vehicles all along the NH-44 (Jowai-Shillong Road).

The JSTCA recently decided to lodge a complaint. The association also demarked a few places where illegal parking of vehicles was taking place daily.

Riat-turiem, tri-junction at Ummulong in Jaintia Hills, Mawryngkneng, Lam-lyer, Pammura and also Mawlyngngat in East Khasi Hills district are the places where haphazard parking of vehicles is taking place regularly.

The JSTCA mentioned that truckers park their vehicles occupying a wide space reducing the width of the road to a single lane and because of this number of accident cases has gone up in the recent times.
