IMPHAL:The North Eastern Development Financial Corporation (NEDFI) will monitor and evaluate the progress of nine projects being implemented in Manipur with financial assistance from the Centre and other institutions, official sources said on Wednesday.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between special secretary (planning) Sajad Hasan on behalf of the Manipur government and NEDFI representatives on July 16.

The Manipur government also issued an order on Monday asking the concerned heads of departments to cooperate with officials from NEDFI while inspecting, monitoring or evaluating the progress of work of the projects being implemented in the state, sources said.

Out of the total of Rs 46.71 crores sanctioned by the Centre (special plan assistance, non-lapsable central pool of resources) and north eastern council, Rs 45.91 crores have so far been released, sources said adding that monitoring and re-evaluation of these projects became necessary to find out whether the work done so far matched with the amount release so far.

Also, the quality of work would be checked, they said.
