AGARTALA:The new building of the Tripura Legislative Assembly was on Friday inaugurated by Governor D Y Patil amidst the boycott by the opposition Congress MLAs.Patil inaugurated the building in presence of the assembly Speaker, Ramendra Chandra Debnath, Chief Minister, Manik Sarkar and his cabinet colleagues, two Lok sabha MPs from the state and top government officials.The 13000 square meter new assembly building was built at a cost of Rs 30 crore with all modern amenities.Leader of the Opposition Rattan Lal Nath said the Congress boycotted the inauguration programme to protest the “terror unleashed by the Marxist government on the opposition supporters and activists” alleging that more than 300 Congress supporters were injured on July 10 last when Tripura State Rifles (TSR) resorted to unprovoked lathicharge on Congress agitators here.(PTI)
