MANGALORE: The country’s first captive breeding centre for King Cobras at the Pilikula Nisargadhama (Dr Shivaram Karanth Biological Park), Moodushedde, here has seen phenomenal success in its project of breeding of King Cobra or Ophiophagus Hannah, the world’s largest venomous snake, in captivity with the increase in the number of the reptiles yet again.As many as 32 of 147 eggs laid by three cobras – ‘Rani’, ‘Nagaveni’ and ‘Nagamani’– had hatched and the process is still on.
The eggs started hatching late on Sunday and all the eggs would hatch in about a week, informed the park sources here on Monday.(PTI)
