Itanagar: Expressing concern over the “pathetic” state of road communication in Arunachal Pradesh, the NCP has urged the concerned authorities to take up road restoration work on war-footing for transporting essentials like medicines and food to the people.

“In the absence of air service facilities in the state, the restoration of road link is the only solution to deliver service to the people,” vice president of state unit of NCP Tad Tana said in a release today.

The basic needs of life such as edible items, medicines were not reaching the people due to blockade of roads after devastation caused by recent landslides triggered by torrential rain, the party said.

“The stock of medicines and other medical facilities in various primary health centers, community heath centres and general hospitals in the state are not upto the mark,” the NCP leader claimed. He cautioned the authorities that if precautionary measures were not taken, there could be an outbreak of water-borne diseases.

Pointing out that disruption in Doimukh-Sagalee road for the last several days due to road blockade caused by the landslide, the party also expressed displeasure over the slow progress of road restoration work in the state capital.

He also asked contractors to strictly follow the guidelines by conducting proper soil test before embarking upon construction work and urfged the administration to act tough against illegal earth cutting in the state. (PTI)
