Guwahati: The chairman of the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), Ranjan Daimary on Tuesday dropped significant hint about the outfit’s readiness to hold dialogue with the government to solve the Bodo insurgency problem.
While being brought to produce before the chief judicial magistrate court here on Tuesday, the NDFB leader said , “Right now what I can tell you is that ceasefire has been declared by us and it is on the right track. We are prepared to talk to anybody, any party to realize our dream.”
The NDFB chairman who is the prime accused in October 30, 2008 serial blasts in Assam, is now lodged in jail after his arrest in Bangladesh last year. Several civil society organisations of Bodo tribe have been trying to persuade the government to release him from jail to facilitate dialogue with the outfit.
The Assam government too has entrusted Bodo National Convention (BNC), a banner organization of civil society organisations and Bodo political parties, to convince the NDFB leader to come forward for talks. As a consequence the outfit announced unilateral ceasefire for indefinite period with effect from August 1 last to show its willingness to hold talks with the government.
The pro-talks faction of the NDFB led by Dhiren Bodo has signed ceasefire pact with the government of India and it waiting for beginning of formal dialogue. Cadres of the pro-talks faction are now lodged in truce-time designated camps.
