Mumbai: Australian cricketer Brett Lee, who has visited India several times for his professional and charity commitments, says the country has now become an integral part of his life

“I don’t know what it is. I think it is about the culture that I love and have embraced. I have been to India at least 50 times. India has become a big part of my life now,” the 34-year-old fast bowler told reporters here on Wednesday.

Lee, who grooved with several kids from the Dharavi slum area while launching the first pro-socio campaign – Vh1 Spread the Music – of international entertainment channel Vh1 and his foundation ‘Mewsic’, said he wanted to help underprivileged children learn music.

“My whole aim in the life is to give children a chance to learn music. Nowadays, rarely a day goes when I’m not playing a piano or a guitar. But not everyone gets a chance to share music. I’m not happy with that. I want every kid to learn music,” said the cricketer, who was part of the visiting Australian squad that recently defeated Sri Lanka 3-2 in a five-match ODI series at home.

The ‘Vh1 Spread the music’ campaign aims to help underprivileged children overcome challenges in life and reach their full potential through music.

Vh1 will support the set up of four NGO music centres in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.

Lee and the Dharavi kids worked with Australian band Muso-Magic to write and choreograph the campaign song.

About 100 kids from Dharavi have enrolled with Mewsic for the next 12 months to learn music. (PTI)
