JAMMU: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said the Defence Land Scam report on 200 acre Srinagar Airport would be submitted to the Union Minister for Defence A K Antony on September 3.

“A high level BJP delegation led by party’s National Secretary Kirit Somaiya and J&K BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas will submit a comprehensive documentary report on 200 acre Srinagar Airport Defence land scam to Mr A K Antony on September 3,” BJP J&K chief spokesperson and national executive committee member Jitendra Singh said in a statement issued here.

Mr Singh said he along with BJP vice-president and prabhari Kashmir province Chander Prakash Ganga would also accompany the delegation.

“The delegation will present a firsthand account of the country’s biggest ever defence land scam to the Union Defence Minister,” he added.

“It is the biggest defence land scam in which the private persons in connivance with defence and State Government officials grabbed 200 acres of land near IAF station in Budgam district,” he added and alleged that the private players connived with defence and revenue officials in transferring the plots to 61 people.

“We apprehend that the land might have been transferred to the anti-national elements and being near to the IAF station, it can put the national security to a grave risk,” alleged Dr Singh.

He, however, said the State Government was not cooperating on the issue in investigating the matter and that the revenue officials could have never transferred the land without the backing of higher ups in the Government. (UNI)
