Shillong: Movie buffs in the city can now enjoy the pleasure of watching movies in a cordial atmosphere as the much-awaited Gold Cinema screen at the Dreamland Shopping Complex was finally inaugurated here on Friday.

The Gold Cinema was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma in presence of Bollywood star Mahima Chaudhuri and others.

Speaking after inaugurating the Gold Cinema, Dr Sangma hoped that the new digital cinema would revive the film culture in the city which has almost died out due to the pathetic conditions of the existing cinema halls.

The digital cinema debuted with Bollywood film Bodyguard starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

The fully air-conditioned theatre with a seating capacity of 200 has the latest 8.1 surround sound which will delight film lovers who visit the theatre.

The projection system in the theatre is directed through satellite (united films organisation) with crystal clear sound and excellent picture quality.

It may be reminded that the theatre finally saw the light of the day after the State Cabinet decided to waive off entertainment tax for the next five years.

GAD Minister AL Hek and other Government officials were also present at the inauguration.
