Itanagar: The All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has called a 48-hour twin Capital Complex “Itanagar and Naharlogun” bandh from September 5 to protest a report on the Nyishi community published in an english daily.

The ANSU called a series of agitations in reaction to the non-response of the state government to the demand made by the union, which included immediate arrest of the reporter concerned, unconditional apology from him and revelation of source for his alleged derogatory remark on the Nyishi community.

After the first phase of 12-hour Capital Complex bandh on May 26 and the second phase capital bandh call of 36-hour on June 27-28, the union went on to declare its third phase of Capital Complex bandh call of 48-hour.

The ANSU had appealed to the people to render their support for justice on behalf of the society.

“The union will be forced to broaden its mode of agitation as continuous cry for justice has fallen on deaf ears despite repeated pleas, ” an ANSU statement said here on Saturday. Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin termed the bandh call as illegal and said stern action would be initiated to prevent the bandh. (UNI)
