Cleaning drive in Jowai

 JOWAI: The Jowai Municipal Board in collaboration with Tympang Club, Sein Raij Jowai, Jowai Traders Association, Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council and the District Administration organised a cleaning drive in Jowai and Iawmusiang on Tuesday commemorating Gandhi Jayanti.

The cleaning drive was enthusiastically taken part by all including schools students and teachers, NGOsand others.

Speaking on the occasion IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills District, Jowai T.Dkhar appreciated the initiative taken by the organisers to organize the cleaning drive in order to bring awareness among the people about the importance of cleanliness.

 Informing the people about the hazards of living in an unhygienic environment, Dkhar, urged the people to cultivate the habit of healthy living. He also said that cleaning the market (Iawmusiang) is not an individual task, it has to be taken by the whole community.
