10 arrested in Sohra black magic assault case

Shillong: Police arrested ten persons in connection with last week’s incident where a mob assaulted three people at Sohra on charges of being involved in the practice of men-ai-ksuid (black magic).

SDPO Sohra, Herbert Lyngdoh on Friday informed that ten persons were arrested on Thursday from different parts of Sohra on charges of inciting the mob to assault the three victims.

Two of the victims died following the attacks. Warless Nongrum (33) died on the spot while Bashem Rynjah (30) succumbed to his injuried in hospital. The third victim Rokes Nongkynrih (22) is still admitted in the hospital.

“We have already taken custody of the arrested persons and more arrests are likely to be made,” Lyngdoh added.
