BSF seizes 1800 bottles of Phensedyl

 SHILLONG: The BSF has seized 1800 bottles of Phensedyl recently after an input by the BSF’s intelligence wing that a group of smugglers are in the process of smuggling Phensedyl from Baghmara District, South Garo Hills to Bangladesh on the night of October 3-4 when troops of 40 BN swung into action.

The special ambush party observed suspicious movement of persons with jute/bag in forest area of BOP Jankhol, PS Baghmara, South Garo Hills. On being challenged by the ambush party, smugglers fled away in the jungle taking advantage of the darkness. The BSF recovered 12 bags containing 1800 bottles of Phensedyl. The seizure is expected to be valued around Rs450,000 lakhs. The incident reveals that there is a racket operating on both sides of the border to smuggle Phensedyl.

In another such seizure, troops of BSF BOP Hathimara Ex-114 BN BSF along with police personnel swung into action on specific intelligence input and carried out search operation at Village Rimthangpara in West Garo Hills and apprehended three persons – Jiten Sangma (28), Abdul Rouif (33) and Akhidul Islam (25). The BSF troops after searching their houses recovered Phensedyl (350 bottles) Rs35000. The apprehended persons were handed over to the concerned department for legal action along with the seized items.
