SHILLONG: Following the recent assault of one, Korbing Sohphoh by a group of villagers at Sni Mawlein in Mawkyrwat-West Khasi Hills, it was informed that the victim is reluctant to file an FIR against the group of miscreants saying that he was not badly injured and received minor punishments.

When contacted, Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills Dr N Raja Marthandan confirmed this saying that after meeting the victim who is currently in Shillong, the victim denied filing an FIR against the group of miscreants who had assaulted him.

Korbing Sohphoh was assaulted by a group of villagers at his residence on the night of October 3 suspecting him to practice witchcraft in the village but no case of assault was registered till date with Korbing’s unwillingness to file an FIR against them.

“He is reluctant to file an FIR citing that he didn’t received any major punishment from the group of villagers, but I think it is fear and apprehension that is stopping him to register a case against the miscreants”, added Dr Marthandan.

However, the SP said they are still investigating the case and if Korbing wanted to go back to his village, then they are willing to provide him security.
